Tall Heights perform in Indianapolis

Tall Heights, an electronic folk duo, from Boston, MA. Formed in 2009 by Tim Harrington and Paul Wright, keeping their set up simple so that they could perform them on the streets. They joined Sony Records in 2016 with the release of Neptune. They recently toured in support of Judah and The Lion on the "Going To Mars!" Tour. That tour made a stop through Indianapolis, Indiana where we were able to check out the show. 

Opening bands always seem to have a bit of a disadvantage, the room hasn't always filled up by the time they take the stage, theres a good chance that many of the fans at the show don't know who they are, and it can be hard to read the room's energy. Tall Heights didn't let any of that affect them. Taking the stage with an energy and confidence that drew the crowd in immediately. 

Opening their set with No Man Alive, the crowd instantly took to the band. The performance had a perfect amount of energy to open the show. And then the band decided to have some fun performing River Wider/Feliz Navidad with a huge reaction and singalong.  

The new single Not Like It Was went over very well with fans and got a great reaction. People singing along and dancing and jumping around. Its always nice to see a band performing a new single on tour to see what kind of reaction and changes the composition there is. 

Another big hit with fans was Cross My Mind. The crowd was really into the energy and was giving the band a lot of love as the crowd grew in size, filing in for the show. Much of the crowd was dancing along and singing the parts that they could. 

Taking a moment before they played their last song to thank fans and people for coming out to the show and thanking Judah and The Lion for bringing them on tour. It was easy to see that the guys were very appreciative and truly enjoy being on the road playing shows. 

Closing their set with Spirit Cold, the crowd was feeling the set and band for sure. You can check out the song below.

Tonight Alive Rock The Old National Center

Tonight Alive kicked off their co-headlining tour with Silverstein a few days ago. Last night the Get Free Tour made its stop in Indianapolis at The Old National Center. Tonight Alive is touring in support of their new album, Underworld, released by Hopeless Records on January 12th.

From the moment that the band took the stage they had a hold of the crowd. The presence of the band draws in fans within just seconds of the first song. Kicking off the set with “How Does It Feel” from their album Limitless the crowd began to sing along immediately. 

Continuing with "Lonely Girl" and "The Ocean" before taking long time fans back to their debut album with "Listening" and "What are you so scared of?" which the crowd loved.

Playing new tracks can be difficult for a number of reason, but especially when the album is only about a week old. The uncertainty of how crowds will react, unsure of how many will know the lyrics, and the fact that the songs haven't been practiced as much. This wasn't the case for Jenna and crew.  "Crack My Heart" was instantly a hit with the fans. Many in the crowd were able to sing right along with Jenna's powerful lyrics and melodic hook. 

Closing the set with "Temple" may be the best choice, ending with such a powerful and energy filled track is sure to leave a lasting impression on people. There was not a single person left standing still during the final song. See photos from the show here.

I've seen Tonight Alive perform a few times over the last couple of years and they just keep getting better each time. I think with the support of Hopeless Records and their fan base 2018 is going to be a monumental year for the band, and I look forward to seeing what they will accomplish. 

Sleep On It in Indianapolis

Sleep On It is a pop punk band based in Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2012. On tour now supporting State Champs, and on their way to releasing the next EP, Overexposed. They recently played a show in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Old National Center. 

I personally was unfamiliar with the band prior to the show. But coming in with fresh eyes and ears it's easy to see how good these guys are. Their stage presence shows that they know what they're doing  and enjoy what they're doing. 

 Lyrically and musically a very strong performance, at times the vocals seemed a little strange or pushed you to the energy   with which they perform on stage. That being said it does not take away from the show or distract the audience. 

 They performed a wide variety of their catalog, even including a couple songs from the new EP set to release on November 3rd.
